When area banks and savings and loans failed in the mid to late 1980s, John Hart, who then operated an independent CPA firm, began helping his small business clients refinance their loans through the U. S. Small Business Administration guaranteed loan programs. By 1988, his efforts evolved into a small SBA loan consulting business which he named Source Funding. After four years, Source Funding was doing so much SBA loan work that he sold his CPA practice and went full time into the SBA / USDA loan consulting industry where he has served for over 30 years. In 2000, Mr. Hart was asked to assume the role of Executive Director of Greater Texas Capital Corp., a SBA 504 Certified Development Corporation. GTCC quickly grew to become the most successful SBA 504 loan producer in the Dallas District of the SBA and one of the top producers annually in the 5-state SBA Region 6. Mr. Hart served Greater Texas Capital for over 20 years before he retired from the company in 2019. Today, almost 30 years later, Mr. Hart has reopened SourceFunding, but expanded it to include loan-consulting, grant writing, and fundraising services to small businesses and non-profits throughout East Texas.
Mr. Hart’s financial expertise, reputation of success among lenders and industry leaders, and competent leadership have resulted in an estimated $1.4 billion in small business financing projects to date.
